Maximum Security puts in typical move in preparation for Bold Ruler

Maximum Security, the multiple Grade 1 winning 3-year-old who was disqualified from first in the Kentucky Derby, won’t be going to the Breeders’ Cup, but he will have a fall campaign that will get started in Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Bold Ruler Handicap at Belmont Park.
On Sunday, Maximum Security had a strong gallop over the Belmont Park training track. He went 1 1/8 miles in 2:10.88 and will be given credit for a three-furlong workout in 41.78 seconds. The fastest part of the move was the last furlong when he went 13.00 seconds from the seven-furlong pole to the six-furlong marker.
“I thought he was moving good,” said Henry Argueta, assistant to trainer Jason Servis. “He did it pretty good, I think he should be okay. This track might be a little deeper than Monmouth.”
Maximum Security has not run since winning the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on July 20. He was entered in the Grade 1, $1 million Pennsylvania Derby but was scratched due to a severe case of colic that forced him to spend a day in an equine clinic.
Maximum Security is using the Bold Ruler, a seven-furlong race, as a potential stepping-stone to the Grade 1, $750,000 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct on Dec. 7.
Among those expected for the Bold Ruler are Diamond King, Killybegs Captain, Tale of Silence, and True Timber. Possible starters include Prince Lucky, Strike Power, Whitmore, and Wonderful Light.
