Mastery will target CashCall Futurity

DEL MAR, Calif. – Mastery came out of his victory in the Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes at Del Mar on Saturday in good order and will stretch out around two turns in his next start in the Grade 1 CashCall Futurity at Los Alamitos, trainer Bob Baffert said Sunday.
Mastery, a son of Candy Ride, ran his record to 2 for 2 with his win in the seven-furlong Bob Hope.
Everett Dobson, who races as Cheyenne Stable, owns Mastery. He said Mastery is the only horse he currently has with Baffert.
“I usually race in the east, but I wanted to spread the horses out, and Candy Rides do so good out here,” Dobson said in the winner’s circle after Saturday’s race.
Arrogate back to galloping
Arrogate had a couple of light weeks after winning the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 5, but he went back to galloping on Sunday morning at Santa Anita.
“I’d been jogging him,” said Baffert, who said he hadn’t made any firm commitments for Arrogate’s next race.
Regarding the $12 million Pegasus in January at Gulfstream Park, Baffert said that if Arrogate does run in that race, he would train up to it, mirroring his preparation before the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
