Mast Track might be out of Dirt Mile again

Jay Privman|Oct 23, 2008

ARCADIA, Calif. - After being out of the Breeders Cup, and then back in, the prospects of Mast Track competing in the $1 million Dirt Mile on Saturday at Santa Anita looked bleak on Thursday morning.

"If hes not 100 percent, Im not going to run him," said Bobby Frankel, who trains and owns Mast Track. "And odds are he wont be 100 percent."

Mast Track has a quarter crack on the outside of his right front hoof. On Monday, when the quarter crack was first discovered, Frankel said Mast Tracks participation "wasnt meant to be." But on Tuesday, Frankel entered the horse in the Dirt Mile, saying of the quarter crack, "Its not that bad."
