Maryfield booked to A. P. Indy

Maryfield, the recently crowned female sprint champion, has been booked to A. P. Indy in 2008, according to trainer Eric Guillot of Southern Equine Stable.

Southern Equine Stable, owned by oil and gas executive Mike Moreno, purchased the 7-year-old Elusive Quality mare for $1.25 million at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky's 2007 November mixed sale.

The auction came just two weeks after Maryfield's victory in the inaugural Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Monmouth. Earlier last year, Maryfield won the Grade 1 Ballerina and Grade 2 Distaff Breeders' Cup Handicap, bringing her total number of stakes victories to five.

The Ontario-bred Maryfield is out of the stakes-placed Desert Wine mare Sly Maid, who also is the dam of Grade 3-placed Quiet.

A. P. Indy stands at Lane's End in Versailles, Ky., for a fee of $300,000.
