Marwad impressive in Sunday victory
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Marwad continues to progress with every start and could prove a force to reckon with in two-turn turf stakes during the upcoming Championship meet after rallying from near the rear of the pack, as usual, to register a three-quarter-length triumph while defeating older horses in Sunday’s main event.

Marwad, a 3-year-old English-bred son of Intello, has registered two wins in four starts, both of those victories over the synthetic track, although trainer Mohammed Moubarak believes he’ll be at his best moving forward on turf and going even further than the 1 1/16 miles he travelled in his latest victory. Marwad finished a troubled fifth in his only try on grass in the Grade 3 Virginia Derby last month at Colonial Downs.
Marwad, who did not launch his career until July, has moved forward with each subsequent outing from a Beyer Speed Figure prospective, earning a career-best 86 for his latest effort.
