Martin Garcia sidelined due to separated shoulder

Jockey Martin Garcia has been diagnosed with a separated shoulder and will miss one to two months, his agent, Thom Mitchell, said Thursday morning.
“He’s been having trouble with it. He went to see the doctor yesterday, and they said it was a separated shoulder,” Mitchell said. “He’ll be out one to two months. He’s been riding in pain. He’ll stop and get healthy.”
Garcia, 34, missed significant time this fall after being injured in a training accident at Santa Anita in late September. He has 26 wins from 232 mounts this year. His most recent mounts were Monday at Del Mar.
Garcia is best known for winning the 2010 Preakness Stakes on Lookin At Lucky, last year’s Pacific Classic with Collected, and the 2014 Breeders’ Cup Classic with Bayern. He has won four Breeders’ Cup races. Garcia also was the regular work rider for Triple Crown winner American Pharoah and gave Justify key works during his Triple Crown quest this year.
