Market Timing finding his niche going longer; pick six carryover of $46,127

Market Timing has always displayed talent and it seems like his connections have been rewarded for demonstrating enough patience to let him show it.
As he approaches the end of his 4-year-old season, Market Timing makes just his fifth career start while seeking his third win in a second-level allowance/optional $80,000 claiming marathon turf event that serves as the feature on Wednesday’s eight race card. This 1 5/16-mile race is the seventh on the program and the fifth leg of a pick six sequence that begins the day with a $46,127 carryover.
Market Timing debuted in April of 2025, finishing sixth of eight in a one-mile dirt race at Aqueduct. He didn’t make his second start until June of this year when he won a maiden turf race at Monmouth Park by 10 1/4 lengths.
Off that effort, trainer Chad Brown brought Market Timing to New York where he finished fourth in a first-level allowance on Aug. 6 at Saratoga before becoming one of three next-out winners from that race when he cleared that condition at Saratoga on Sept. 6. That race was at 1 3/8 miles and produced two next-out winners.
“He’s potentially found his niche going longer,” said Brown, who trains Market Timing for Seth Klarman’s Klaravich Stables. “He’s show he’s a stayer and continues to develop in a proper way.
“He always trained good,” Brown added. “I have a patient owner, where if they show ability we’ll give them plenty of chances to become what they can and have a suitable career.”
Market Timing, with Dylan Davis up, figures to be on the lead. His stablemate Arkhipov, second in this condition twice during the summer, figures to come from off the pace in this spot under Flavien Prat.
Concord Green, trained by Shug McGaughey, is cutting back in distance after basically being distanced in the two-mile Bowling Green Stakes at Saratoga in June. He finished second after setting the pace going 1 1/2 miles in this condition at Keeneland in April for trainer Shug McGaughey.
Eff Thirty Five makes his third start for Mike Maker and drops out of two stakes tries, the latter a fourth-place finish where he raced next to last behind a pedestrian pace before getting beat 1 3/4 lengths by the multiple graded stakes winner Truly Quality.
Here’s a glance at the other pick six races:
Race 3: Karsten gets his first chance to sprint on turf in this evenly-matched field of seven going six furlongs on the outer turf course. Karsten’s first two turf tries were decent and they were around two turns. His sprint race on dirt on Aug. 30 was solid.
Story of Rory and Sultan Hssan dead-heated for second going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf at Saratoga on Aug. 19.
Daisy Doo comes out of a runner-up finish to Sir Walta, who came back to win his first-level allowance condition here last Thursday.
Race 4: In this $16,000 claimer sprinting on dirt, Ancient World seems like the choice, stepping slightly up in class off the Steve Schauer claim and quickier turnaround than the trio of class-droppers Osborune, Counterspy, and Treaty Obligation. Of that trio, Counterspy looks best, as he has races, albeit at Parx, that are good enough to dominate these.
Race 5: The last time Languid ran in this maiden $55,000 claiming condition, he finished a close second behind odds-on class-dropper Capricious Outcome.
Mortal Lock crossed the wire first in a maiden $75,000 claimer, his lone try in 15 starts for a tag. He's now back at a suitable distance in this spot.
Race 6: Dia Por Dia, trained by Linda Rice, may be a single, as she is 2 for 2 for in claimers, albeit her win at Saratoga on Sept. 2 came in the mud when she had things her own way on the lead. There doesn't appear to be too much speed signed for this six-furlong heat for $20,000 claimers.
Race 8: Amira’s Star finished seventh on debut over synthetic, a race won by her Miguel Clement-trained stablemate Lyn’s Legacy. The runner-up of that race came back to win, and three others came back to finish in the money in their next starts. Amira’s Start drops into a claimer, gets blinkers, and keeps Samuel Marin who hits at 34 percent with this barn.
Copper Caduceus had a wide trip and then shied away from a rival to her outside in stretch when fourth in the final race of Saratoga meet. She gets blinkers and a more inside draw Wednesday.
Chaumet has been the victim of some tough trips in her two starts for a tag and also gets blinkers.
