Mario Pino, the journeyman jockey, won his 7,000th race lifetime on Wednesday when he rode Enjoy the Music to victory in the fourth race at Presque Isle Downs in Pennsylvania, his second win on the card. Enjoy the Music was the 7-10 favorite in the race. In the second race at Presque Isle on Wednesday, Pino won with Gucci Gal, the 2.40-1 second choice. Pino, 60, was already ranked 10th on the all-time list for riding wins at the time he won his 7,000th race. For his career, he has had 42,622 mounts. He rode his first winner at Bowie Race Track in Maryland on Jan. 16, 1979. Pino, a native of Wilmington, Del., where he was born on a farm, has mostly ridden in the mid-Atlantic throughout his long career. Pino became the 10th rider to reach the 7,000-win mark. Only two other active riders, Perry Ouzts with 7,241 victories and Edgar Prado with 7,105, have reached the milestone. Russell Baze is the all-time leader with 12,842.
