Mariah's Galaxy rallies to win Treasure Chest

Mariah’s Galaxy won her second stakes race of the young Delta Downs meet on Friday night, when she darted to 1 1/2-length win over Shes Our Fastest in the $100,000 Treasure Chest.
The score came on the heels of the $100,000 Magnolia that Mariah’s Galaxy captured opening weekend, on Oct. 11.
Mariah’s Galaxy ($12) was moving into open company for the Treasure Chest, a mile race for fillies and mares, and settled off the pace. Summer’s Indy took the field through fractions of 23.01 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.40 for the half-mile, and 1:12.66 for six furlongs, while pushed along by favorite Classy Act. Mariah’s Galaxy advanced on the final turn, rallied in the stretch, and covered the distance on a fast track in 1:39.51.
Kevin Smith was aboard for trainer Victor Arceneaux.
Mariah’s Galaxy is a daughter of Greeley’s Galaxy who races for Riley Blanchet and Todd Matte. She was winning the third stakes race of her career, with all of those victories coming at Delta. Mariah’s Galaxy has now won 9 of 23 starts and earned $302,485.
Racing resumes Saturday night with the running of the $100,000 Delta Mile.
