Margie’s Intention, winner of the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on May 16, will most likely make her next start in the Grade 3, $300,000 Delaware Oaks at Delaware Park on June 14, Elliott Walden, president and CEO of racing operations for WinStar Farm said.  Walden said he favored the Delaware Oaks over a race like the Grade 1 Acorn in part because it gives Margie’s Intention one more week and the field won’t include undefeated Kentucky Oaks winner Good Cheer, who is pointing to the Acorn at Saratoga on June 6.  :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! The filly’s third victory in six starts for trainer Brad Cox was also her first race for WinStar, which purchased 75 percent interest in the Louisiana-bred daughter of Honor A. P. from Baron Stables, managed by Tom Mueller.  The Delaware Oaks will be one of four stakes races on the card at Delaware Park on June 14. Run for the first time in 1938, it will be the counterpart to the $200,000 Delaware Derby, which will be added to the track’s stakes calendar for the first time this year.  - additional reporting by David Grening  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
