Manovan dominates in KTA Futurity
Manovan dominated the KTA Futurity at The Woodlands in Kansas City, Kan., on Saturday, when he rolled to a 12.50 length win in the race, which was restricted to the offspring of eligible stallions. Sir Regent finished second, two and a half lengths clear of third-place finisher Murphy's Magic.
Manovan ($3.40) broke on top and steadily increased his advantage through fractions of 24 seconds for the opening quarter and 48 seconds for the half-mile mark. He proceeded to cover the five and a half furlongs in 1:06.40.
Armando Martinez rode Manovan for trainer Joe Thomas, Sr.
The colt earned $12,000 for the win, which was his second victory in two career starts. He races for Ferrel and Sally Chapman. Manovan is a son of Grand On Dave, who is by Meadowlake.
