Mandella works Jolie Olimpica, Superstition for Las Cienegas

The multiple stakes winner Jolie Olimpica and the promising filly Superstition worked on Thursday for scheduled starts in the Grade 3 Las Cienegas Stakes for fillies and mares at six furlongs on turf on Jan. 9.
Jolie Olimpica, who won the 2020 Las Cienegas when the race was run at 5 1/2 furlongs, worked five furlongs in 1:00.20. Jolie Olimpica has not raced since a second in the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley Stakes at Keeneland in July.

Superstition, a two-time winner at five furlongs on turf at Del Mar in November, has yet to run in a stakes. She worked the same distance in 1:02.60.

On Jan. 10, Mandella plans to run the stakes-placed Amuse in the $75,000 Kalookan Queen Stakes for fillies and mares at 6 1/2 furlongs, a prep for the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes at seven furlongs on Feb. 13.
Thursday, Amuse worked five furlongs in 1:00.
