Mandatory payout in Rainbow 6 on Monday
Horseplayers who labor over Monday’s card at Gulfstream Park might reap substantial benefits. The track projected that the Rainbow 6 jackpot pool could end up being in the $2.5 million range if it remained unclaimed Saturday and Sunday.
Heading into Saturday’s program, which had a guaranteed Rainbow 6 jackpot pool of $850,000, the 20-cent minimum bet requiring a single, unique ticket with all six winners had not been hit for 28 straight cards. There is a mandatory payout in the Rainbow 6 – as well as the pick five and Super Hi 5 – on Monday.
The Rainbow 6 will include races 6-11. Monday’s card is comprised of claiming races with the exception of the fifth, a maiden special weight for 2-year-olds that drew Thornado, a first-time starter and half-brother to Kentucky Oaks winner Lovely Maria.
Below is a look at the Rainbow 6 sequence at Gulfstream:
Race 6 – Mini Ashley drops a notch in class for a $12,500 maiden-claiming race for fillies and mares at a mile on turf and draws better than Addar, who is stuck on the outside under apprentice Tyler Gaffalione. Another chief contender is Lying Eyes.
Race 7 – Big Awesome is back in the overnight ranks after a stakes start and can make an impact if he runs back to his effort from July 24. Bonnie Boy Hunter makes his dirt debut and gets pedigree support for the switch, while another of interest is Giannino.
Race 8 – In this conditioned claiming race for fillies and mares over 7 1/2 furlongs on turf, Starship O. E. M. drops from a $20,000 tag to $10,000. Zamrata and Siccar also look live.
Race 9 – A competitive group has signed on for a $6,250 claiming sprint for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs. Guderian gets the nod over Deer Dog, while others to consider include Mr. Nine Five Four and Tea’s Two Step.
Race 10 – Running on Guinnes drops a notch in class for a $20,000 maiden-claiming race at a mile on turf and finds a formidable group that includes Caramelo, who is on the improve, Little Comma, who is getting back on turf, and Fox Chase.
Race 11 – Fancy Henry looks like a strong choice, with the main concern post 12 over 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. Other players include Dreamin of Clarise, Touchdown Tom, Drover Road, and All Cash.
