Mandatory payout 20-cent pick six returns $10,521

DEL MAR, Calif. - The 20-cent Jackpot pick six paid $10,521 at Del Mar on Saturday, a day with a mandatory payout and a track record pool of $8,876,771 in new money.
The pick six helped Del Mar to an all-sources handle of $36,005,612, a record for a non-Breeders’ Cup Day. The previous mark of $25.8 million for a non-Breeders’ Cup day was set on Pacific Classic Day in 2018.
Saturday’s pick six began with a carryover of $1,874,996 from Friday. The pool of new money surpassed the previous record of $6.65 million for a pick six set in September 2010.
The winners of Saturday’s pick six races, the sixth through 11th, were Private Mission ($4), Mo Forza ($4.20), Established ($17.20), Going Global ($4.80), Tripoli ($15), and Astronaut ($50).
Private Mission, Mo Forza, and Going Global were favored.
This is the first year Del Mar has offered a 20-cent pick six with a format that pays out the entire pool on days when there is one winning ticket, which has happened once at the current summer meeting that began on July 16.
If there are multiple winning tickets, which is often the case, some of the pool is directed into a carryover, which has swelled in recent weeks.
Saturday’s pool slightly exceeded an $8 million estimate from track officials.
This was the first of two mandatory payouts in the pick six. There will be a mandatory payout on closing day, Sept. 6.
