Mamdooha sidelined with ankle chip

Joe Labozzetta/NYRA Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is hopeful his star filly Mamdooha will recover from surgery in time to resume racing in late summer or early fall.
Mamdooha, a winner of 4 of 5 starts, including the Ruthless and Cicada stakes at Aqueduct this winter, will be out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a chip in an ankle, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said.
Mamdooha, a daughter of Daaher owned by Shadwell Stable, was sent to Kentucky this week to have the chip removed. McLaughlin said he is hopeful Mamdooha will be back to him for a late-summer or fall campaign.
◗ Joey DiAngelo, a jockey agent for several riders, including Julie Krone, Aaron Gryder, Nick Santagata, C.C. Lopez, and, most recently, Rosario Montanez, died Wednesday morning due to an apparent heart attack. He was 69.
