Makin’s Paulyn Limited dispersal to be offered at Goffs

Australian owner Paul Makin will disperse his Paulyn Limited bloodstock at Goffs in November, including 2013 Irish Oaks winner Chicquita, 2013 Swaps Stakes winner Chief Havoc, and some Group 1-winning broodmares now in foal to some of the world’s most fashionable stallions.

Goffs has not announced a date or dates for the Paulyn stock to sell, but the company conducts its November sale this year on November 18-24. The Paulyn dispersal, handled by The Castlebridge Consignment, will consist of 25 horses.

In addition to Chicquita and Chief Havoc, the Paulyn dispersal also will feature Sparkle Plenty, a 3-year-old Galileo half-sister to 2011 Epsom Derby hero Pour Moi; Group 1 winner Fleeting Spirit, now in foal to Galileo; Group 1 winner Gilt Edge Girl, now carrying a Redoute’s Choice foal; Gilt Edge Girl’s dam Tahara, in foal to Fastnet Rock; Funsie, dam of European champion Authorized and of Hydrogen, a $4 million Galileo yearling last fall; and Song, a Sadler’s Wells mare in foal to Frankel.

Yearlings also are on offer, among them a Galileo filly out of Fleeting Spirit.

“All of the Paulyn breeding stock is already in Ireland, and by the time of the sale all of our racing horses, some as yet unraced 2-year-olds, will be on farms in Ireland,” said Makin. “Our consignor is Irish, and the Irish government needs a boost. I love Ireland, and I hope this dispersal, without reserves, will encourage other vendors to come along for the ride. We will make money, and it should be good fun!”

Makin established Paulyn Limited in 2007 as his family’s breeding and racing venture.
