Maidens line up in Golden Gate leg of Golden Hour daily double
The intriguing first-time starters Get’em Tiger and Poulaphouca meet the experienced runners Doggy Dreams and Kiss Ride Goodbye in an eight-horse maiden special weight for California-bred 3-year-old fillies in the ninth and final race at Golden Gate Fields on Saturday.
The six-furlong maiden race is the second half of the $5 Golden Hour daily double, which links the final race of the day at Santa Anita with the last race at Golden Gate Fields.
Get’em Tiger, trained by Quinn Howey, has shown a steady pattern of workouts since the beginning of the year for her debut, notably a half-mile in 48.40 from the gate last Sunday. By Smiling Tiger, Get’em Tiger is out of the nine-time winner Louisiana Lawyer, the dam of three winners. Howey has won with two of six first-time starters since the beginning of 2019.
Get’em Tiger’s pedigree suggests the filly could be part of the pace in a race that does not have a confirmed front-runner.

Poulaphouca, trained by Brendan Galvin, has shown promising works in recent months. She worked five furlongs from the gate in 1:00.80 on March 8 in her second-to-last workout for this race.
Poulaphouca, by the City Zip stallion Gig Harbor, is the first foal to race out of Runfasterelse, who won 10 of 35 starts and earned $237,796 in a career that spanned from 2011 to 2016.
Carolina Mia will have her debut and is trained co-owned by Felix Rondan. Carolina Mia has had six works since late January.
Doggy Dreams is certain to be well backed on the strength of her second by three lengths in a maiden special weight against open company on Feb. 22 in her second start. Trained by O.J. Juaregui, Doggy Dreams closed from fifth in a field of eight with a wide rally. She had two workouts earlier this month as a tune-up for this race.
Kiss Ride Goodbye has the most intriguing pedigree in the field. Trained by Bill Delia, Kiss Ride Goodbye is by the promising young California stallion Clubhouse Ride and is out of Alphabet Kisses, the winner of the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita in 2004.
Alphabet Kisses is the dam of eight winners.
Kiss Ride Goodbye, who has raced twice, was claimed for $12,500 from a maiden race in her debut at Golden Gate Fields on Feb. 6 when she finished fourth after a poor start. In her first start for Delia, Kiss Ride Goodbye closed from seventh in a field of eight to finish third by 1 1/4 lengths on Feb. 29, her most recent start.
Kiss Ride Goodbye broke from the rail on Feb. 29 and has a better draw in post 6 in this field.
