Maiden entered in two Summit of Speed stakes

Nicky Boy, a maiden who was beaten a combined 120 lengths in her only two previous

starts earlier this year at Sunland Park, was denied entry by the New York Racing Association when owner Chadda Solange attempted to run her in the Grade 1 Wood earlier this year. But Calder accepted the 3-year-old filly's entry in not one but two races on Saturday's Summit of Speed program, both the Azalea and Princess Rooney.

As of Wednesday morning, Solange had not decided in which of the two races the filly will run.

"My trainer Jesse Maldonado and I will study the competition on Friday and then decide," said Solange.

Victor Espinoza is named aboard Nicky Boy in both races although Solange said she has a back-up ready in case Espinoza decides not to accept the mount.

"It's a local rider who has had success down there," was all Solange would reveal.

As for running her seemingly hopelessly overmatched maiden in a graded stakes, Solange said "When the race is finished I'll tell everybody the full story, but I have faith in Nicky and she is going to make Miami proud."
