Magna gets Florida slots license

Magna Entertainment Corp. has been awarded a license by the state of Florida for slot machine operation at Gulfstream Park, Magna announced Friday.

Magna officials said they expect to have 516 slot machines installed and operational within the next several weeks. Gulfstream was awarded the right to operate 1,500 slot machines by a referendum that passed in Broward County earlier this year.

"This is an important day in the evolution of Gulfstream Park," said Paul Micucci, the track's president and general manager.
