Magic Vow gives Brittlyn Stable a stakes sweep

Brittlyn Stable swept both weekend stakes at Evangeline Downs, when Magic Vow proved a clear winner of the $60,000 Equine Sales Derby on Saturday night, and Bermuda Star got her first dirt victory Friday night in the $60,000 Equine Sales Oaks.
Both 1 1/16-miles races for 3-year-olds were restricted to graduates of designated sales in Louisiana.
Magic Vow ($7.60) won the second stakes race of his career, when he tracked fractions of 24.19 seconds for the opening quarter, 48.97 for the half-mile and 1:13.79 for six furlongs before going on to a 4 3/4-length win over Paddy O’Lionel. The winner covered the distance on a fast track in 1:46.04.
Kerwin Clark rode Magic Vow for trainer Allen Landry.
Bermuda Star ($3.60) also tracked the pace, sitting off fractions of 24.26 for the opening quarter, 48.78 for the half-mile and 1:14.49 for six furlongs before going on to cover the distance in 1:46.58. Bermuda Star was a three-length winner over Madame Begue.
Diego Saenz rode the winner for Victor Arceneaux.
Bermuda Star is a daughter of Star Guitar and Magic Vow is by Private Vow.
