Magic Attitude pulls away in stretch to win Sheepshead Bay

Magic Attitude came from well off a dawdling pace to win the Grade 2, $200,000 Sheepshead Bay for fillies and mares going away on Saturday at Belmont Park.
The fourth winner on the card for jockey Trevor McCarthy, Magic Attitude trailed the six-horse field down the backstretch, racing about six lengths off the lead. Antoinette set fractions of 25.27 seconds, 51.03, and 1:17.05 in the 1 3/8-mile turf event, before Always Shopping joined her up front on the far turn.
After saving ground, Magic Attitude ($11) began to mount what turned out to be an explosive wide rally entering the stretch. She went on to score by three lengths, in a time of 2:14.32 over the firm ground.
Mutamakina outran Always Shopping by a half-length for second. My Sister Nat, Antoinette, and Orglandes completed the order of finish.

Trained by Arnaud Delacour, Magic Attitude won her only other local start last September in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational, which was her first start outside of France. Bred in Great Britain, the 4-year-old Galileo filly earned $110,000 for Lael Stables.
