Mae Never No speeds off to win Colleen Stakes
The heavily favored Mae Never No went straight to the front and never looked back to take the $59,700 Colleen Stakes easily on Saturday at Monmouth Park.
The five-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies was taken off the soggy turf and run over a sloppy track. Mae Never No broke sharply under Jose Ferrer and set fractions of 22.33 and 45.65 as Margie Is Livid took up the chase in second.
Mae Never No ($3) drew off in the final furlong to prevail by seven lengths in 57.98 seconds. Amy Farah Fowler rallied along the rail for second, and Margie Is Livid faded to third. Creedibility, Clever Sarah, and Harbour Way completed the order of finish.
A daughter of the successful freshman sire No Nay Never, Mae Never No earned $36,000 in her first stakes score for Ice Win Stable and trainer Wesley Ward.
