Made Me Shiver stands out in Sorority Stakes
Maclean’s Music was a memorable debut winner in 2011, taking a maiden special weight race with a Beyer Speed Figure of 114. His daughter Made Me Shiver did her best impression of dad in June, and if she runs back to that effort, she might be tough to contain Monday in the $100,000 Sorority at Monmouth Park.
The Sorority, a six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies, drew a field of eight. The group of young horses includes Easy Money, who placed in a stakes last out at Delaware Park, and Midnight Union, a sharp maiden special weight winner last out at Monmouth.
But much of the attention will be on Made Me Shiver, who powered to a 5 3/4-length debut win at Churchill Downs, covering 4 1/2 furlongs in 51 seconds. She earned an 83 Beyer, which ranks as one of the best numbers for a 2-year-old filly in North America in 2016.
