Madden, Millennium Farms create Buckland Sales Agency

Bloodstock specialist Zach Madden and Millennium Farms have partnered to create Buckland Sales Agency, an independent consignment debuting at the November breeding stock sales.

The new partnership will focus on the major North American yearling and breeding stock sales, serving as the primary consignor for Millennium Farms, but operating independently from the farm, accepting third-party customers. The offices of Buckland Sales will be housed on Millennium Farms.

Buckland Sales will consign eight offerings at the upcoming Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale, then will follow with a group of 45 horses for the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

“Buckland’s first consignment is full of prospects for every buyer,” Madden said. “Top to bottom, I feel it's very strong and something were proud of. We'll offer weanlings by the right horses, mares-in-foal with quality, and some interesting racing and broodmare prospects that buyers could go either way with.”

Madden, a native of Lexington, Ky., learned the business from his grandparents’ On the Rocks Farm, and eventually took a job in the broodmare division of Three Chimneys Farm. After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in business management, Madden became an integral part of the Three Chimneys operation, eventually being named the farm’s director of client development. He joined the Millennium Farms staff in 2014 as head of customer relations.

“We originally brought Zach on for many reasons, one being that we felt he was the perfect fit to further our initiative on customer service and another being that we thought he would be a great fit in building our sales consignment,” said J. Ted Neel, business manager of Millennium Farms. “Zach is a great guy to know and interact with and he’s an even better guy to have on your team. Once he was on board, we soon realized we could double down on the consignment front together and build something that was much larger than an in-house agency. The result is Buckland Sales.”
