MacLennan promoted to racing secretary at NYRA
Rob MacLennan has been promoted to the position of racing secretary at the New York Racing Association, the company announced Wednesday.
McLennan, who has been with NYRA since 2021 and most recently served as one of two assistant racing secretaries, joins Keith Doleshel as one of two racing secretaries at NYRA. Doleshel also holds the title of senior director of racing. Both will oversee the writing of condition books and handle other duties at Aqueduct, Saratoga, and, ultimately Belmont Park when that track re-opens in 2026.
Before coming to NYRA, MacLennan worked in Alberta, Canada, where he was racing secretary at Century Mile and Century Downs. Prior to that, he worked as an on-air handicapper and paddock host at Assiniboia Downs in Manitoba, Canada.
NYRA has employed multiple racing secretaries in the past when Mike Lakow, Pat Pope, and Frank Gabriel shared those responsibilities at the same time.
MacLennan will report to Doleshel who reports to Andrew Offerman, NYRA's senior vice president racing and operations.
