Mac Daddy Mac makes belated return

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The Grade 3-placed Mac Daddy Mac makes his long-awaited 3-year-old debut facing four rivals in Friday’s $37,000 optional-claiming feature, restricted to Florida-breds.
Mac Daddy Mac has not started since finishing second behind Toews On Ice in the Grade 3 Bob Hope last fall at Del Mar. Purchased privately by owner Dean Reeves of Mucho Macho Man fame prior to the Bob Hope and trained by Kathy Ritvo, Mac Daddy Mac had his return delayed a couple of times due to minor issues this year but has been working on a regular basis here since late May. Mac Daddy Mac will wear blinkers for the first time Friday.
Gary Stevens, who rode Mac Daddy Mac in the Bob Hope, was named to ride on Friday but will not make the trip, with Matthew Rispoli picking up the mount. Rispoli has been aboard Mac Daddy Mac for several of his works.
Splash Rules, an impressive maiden winner in his most recent start, and the improving Sonofaderbywinner may provide Mac Daddy Mac with his stiffest challenges.
