The win might not have been as dominant as she appeared to be on paper. But they don't run the races on paper, and Lush Lips collected her second consecutive graded stakes victory on the turf, scoring by a half-length as the heavy favorite in the Grade 2, $300,000 Mrs. Revere Stakes for 3-year-old fillies Friday at Churchill Downs.  Lush Lips ($3.14) has four wins and three runner-up efforts from seven starts this year for trainer Brendan Walsh. After her win in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup on Oct. 11 at Keeneland, she brought a sale-topping $3.7 million at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale, purchased by Dixiana Farms as a racing or broodmare prospect. That outfit kept her in training with Walsh, with the 2026 Breeders' Cup back at Keeneland as a long-range goal. In the meantime, she got back in action on Friday down the highway in Louisville, carrying her new colors for the first time.  “She’s improved the entire year,” Walsh said. “All credit to our team. I’m very thankful for the Dixiana Farms team to keep her in training. We had this race in mind after the sale. We’ll take her down to Florida after this and get her ready for her 4-year-old season." Lush Lips rolled out of the inside post with her ears pricked, then rated kindly for Tyler Gaffalione, ceding the early lead to second choice Classic Q. The latter filly was keen early, as per usual, but did get away with unpressured opening splits of 24 seconds flat for the quarter and 48.46 seconds for the half.  :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! Classic Q responded gamely, but still faded late as Lush Lips edged clear of her. Pretty Picture flew up on the outside in the final yards, rallying despite the moderate pace. She ran out of ground to catch the winner, but edged Classic Q by a neck for the placing.  On another chilly day, with the temperatures barely breaking above freezing in Louisville, Lush Lips finished the 1 1/16 miles on turf rated firm in 1:41.75.  Walsh and Gaffalione have teamed up to win two turf stakes this week at Churchill, as they also won Thursday's Cardinal Stakes with Proctor Street.  “All the credit goes to Brendan and his team,” Gaffalione said. “We sat a great trip and I was just a passenger.” :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
