Mary Rampellini Lullaby Bling brought $100,000 at the Texas Thoroughbred Association yearling auction in 2017.

Lullaby Bling comes into Friday night’s $100,000 Clever Trevor at Remington Park a bigger, stronger colt than he was when last seen in July.

The Clever Trevor, which is for 2-year-olds at seven furlongs, serves as the local stepping-stone to the $400,000 Springboard Mile on Dec. 16. Lullaby Bling’s trainer, Danele Durham, won that race in 2012 with Texas Bling. She would like to return to Remington’s richest offering for 2-year-olds with Lullaby Bling.

“That’s what we’re here for,” she said.

Lullaby Bling was a 6 1/4-length debut winner June 23 at Lone Star Park and in his only other start finished third in the track’s $107,312 colts and geldings division of the Texas Thoroughbred Futurity on July 15.

“After the Lone Star meet he was 100 percent sound, training up to the first stakes here, the Kip Deville, and I noticed a little bit of sound in his breathing,” Durham said. “We did a little procedure, took a couple of weeks off.”

The time away turned out to be a blessing in disguise, Durham said.

“Sometimes you’ve got to leave the training to the Lord,” she said. “He put so much weight on. He’s got a shoulder to him and a butt to him that he didn’t have over the summer. He’s filled out. I’m happy with him.”

The Clever Trevor drew eight, including a trio from Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen. He will be looking for his third 2-year-old stakes win of the meet when he sends out Cajun Firecracker, winner of the Dr. Fager division of the Florida Sire Stakes at Gulfstream Park, Tobacco Road, and Long Range Toddy.

Cajun Firecracker, by Cajun Breeze

Last 3 Beyers: 49-79-88

◗ He’s new to the region and the Asmussen barn after making his first four starts at Gulfstream Park.

◗ Cajun Firecracker will be cutting back to one turn after racing around two for the first time in his last start Sept. 29, when he finished seventh in the $400,000 In Reality division of the Florida Sire Stakes.

◗ Ramon Vazquez has the mount from post 4.

Tobacco Road, by Quality Road

Last 3 Beyers: 56-71-63

◗ Asmussen trainee is another turnback prospect, and the last time he raced around one turn he captured the $75,000 Ellis Park Juvenile at seven furlongs Aug. 9.
