Lukas trainee Goats Town lights up tote board

LEXINGTON, Ky. – It didn’t approach what happened this summer, but Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas set the Keeneland toteboard alight Thursday when Goats Town won the eighth race at a $66.60 mutuel, becoming the longest-priced winner for the opening five-day stretch of the fall meet.
Lukas had the longest-priced winner of the Saratoga meet when Perplexed returned a whopping $232.50 in the first race July 24.
◗ A 3-year-old filly named Diamond Tap may be one to watch after rallying to win the seventh race here Thursday as a surprise 2-1 favorite. Bred and owned by the Whisper Hill Farm of Mandy Pope, the daughter of Tapit was making her debut when becoming just the 16th winner among 487 first-time starters for trainer Buff Bradley (3 percent).
