Lucky Move cuts back in search of softer spot
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLE
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Lucky Move drops in class while Am Impazible will be stepping up as the two New York-bred females clash in Friday’s second-level allowance/optional-claiming feature at Aqueduct.
Lucky Move, a 6-year-old daughter of Lookin At Lucky trained by Juan Carlos Guerrero, is coming off narrow second-place finishes in the Bay Ridge Stakes and Ladies Handicap, both going 1 1/8 miles at Aqueduct. While he has Lucky Move nominated to Sunday’s $100,000 Biogio’s Rose Stakes, Guerrero and owners Marshall Gramm and Clay Sanders of Ten Strike Racing opted for the allowance.
“We’re trying to give her the easier race, that’s all, but she’s doing very well,” Guerrero said.
Guerrero expressed some concern about shortening up to the one-turn mile after seven straight starts around two turns.

“I think she can handle it, but she does look like after she hits the mile is when she kicks in,” Guerrero said. “She’s definitely ready. It’s just a matter of the distance, but the company’s a little different than last time so that should help a lot.”
The prospect of a wet track shouldn’t bother Lucky Move as she was a solid second to odds-on favorite Bellera in the Ladies over a sloppy Aqueduct surface on Jan. 19.
Lucky Move will break from post 8 under Kendrick Carmouche.
One slot inside of Lucky Move will be Am Impazible, a 4-year-old daughter of Mission Impazible trained by Kelly Breen. Am Impazible won a 6 1/2-furlong maiden race here Nov. 20 and came back with a first-level allowance win going a mile Dec. 29.
Breen said he was surprised how well Am Impazible ran going short and was happy “to see what we saw” when he stretched her out in distance. Fifteen years ago, Breen trained Am Impazible’s mother, True Legend, for these same owners, Richard Troncone Sr. and Richard Troncone Jr.
Cartwheel, who has two seconds and a third in this condition, looks like the primary speed from the rail under Jose Lezcano.
The Great Johanna has won three of her last four starts, her lone loss in that span a third to Am Impazible. She won a weak first-level allowance by 6 1/2 lengths on Jan. 23.
Elegant Zip, Elegant Jem, Makin’ Out, and Mary’s Girl complete the field.
