Lucky Chuck upset heavily favored Lone Star Cowboy to win the $70,000 Indiana Futurity at Hoosier Park on Sunday afternoon. Trained by David Pate, Lucky Chuck was kept back off the quick pace by jockey Ben Creed until the turn, when the 2-year-old gelding took command and drew off to a 6 1/2-length victory over the muddy Hoosier Park oval. It was the first stakes win for Creed. Favorite Lone Star Cowboy was very fractious in the gate and then broke out at the start. Orlando Mojica kept his mount in midpack to the turn and then asked Lone Star Cowboy for his best coming out of the turn and he failed to respond. Our Devil's Halo finished third. Lucky Chuck returned $19.60 to win and ran the six furlongs in 1.10.40 over the muddy track.
