Luck Out can keep Wright barn hot
Trainer Blaine Wright is off to a hot start at Emerald Downs, winning with three of his first four starters. He has a good chance of keeping his hot streak going when he runs Luck Out in a $20,000 claiming race Friday. The six-furlong dash for fillies and mares drew seven horses and headlines a seven-race card that starts at 6:30 p.m. Pacific.
Luck Out will be making her first start since finishing fourth in a $20,000 claiming race at Los Alamitos on Dec. 15, and she has been working steadily for her return. Last year at Emerald, she won her last three races before heading to California, where she went unplaced in back-to-back starts at Santa Anita.
In her last win at Emerald, Luck Out rallied to wear down Belladiva in a one-mile, $25,000 conditional claimer on Sept. 19. Her first win in the streak came going six furlongs, so she should be okay with the cutback to a sprint. She does her best running late, and with plenty of potential speed in the field, Friday’s race should set up nicely for her.
She will break from post 3 with Leslie Mawing riding.
Speed will be provided by Dance with Effie and Doctor Susan.
