LS Jacks Back fastest qualifier for Heritage Place Futurity final

The first-time starter LS Jacks Back won a division of the Heritage Place Futurity time trials at Remington Park on Friday to set the fastest qualifying time for the $1,244,980 final on May 29.

Even with an impressive three-length win in a 350-yard trial in 17.86 seconds, LS Jacks Back may not be favored later this month. Political Rose won a division of the trials on Saturday in 17.95 seconds by 2 3/4 lengths for her second win in three starts, and could be the top choice in the richest race of the track’s winter-spring Quarter Horse meeting.

The five fastest finishers from trials on Friday and Saturday advanced to the final. LS Jacks Back, trained by John Stinebaugh for Jack Smith Farms, will be the only runner in the final with only one race of experience.

Political Rose, trained by Monty Arrossa for Matt Dunn, had the fastest qualifying time from Saturday’s trials. Arrossa and Dunn will have two finalists, including the gelding Sir Vyval, who won a division of the trials on Saturday in 18.08 seconds.

The other qualifiers are Jet Black Grace (17.91), Sassalitical (17.93), Relentless Anywhere (17.95), and Pycfastandfamous (17.95) from Friday’s trials. The other qualifiers from Saturday’s trials are AJS Tres of Paint (18.01), Fiery Passage (18.15) and Dreamsville (18.16).

All qualifiers won divisions of the trials.

*** The gelding Hock It to You is having a productive spring in early-season Quarter Horse futurities.

On March 20, Hock It to You was second in the $477,200 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park. Friday, Hock It to You won a division of the time trials for the Sam Houston Futurity at Sam Houston Race Park, qualifying for the $732,650 final on May 28.

Owned by Reynold Muniz and Heavy Hitters Racing Stable, Hock It to You won a 330-yard time trial in 16.98 seconds, winning by 1 1/2 lengths for his second victory in three starts. Trained by Juan Diaz Jr., Hock It to You set the second-fastest qualifying time Friday. Apollitical Crystal won her debut on Friday by 2 1/2 lengths in 16.91 seconds to set the fastest time from that program.

The Sam Houston Futurity will have two other finalists with recent futurity experience. El Gansito and Lucky Dice, who were third and second in the $302,010 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity at Louisiana Downs on April 3, were first and second, separated by a head, in a trial Saturday. El Gansito was timed in 17.19 seconds, slightly quicker than the 17.20 clocking by Lucky Dice.

Coronas Candy Man was the fastest qualifier from Saturday’s trials, winning his debut by 1 3/4 lengths in 17.03 seconds. Coronas Candy Man and Apollitical Crystal are trained by Adrian Huitron, who also trains El Gansito and Dr Toola, a qualifier from Friday’s trials in 17.09 seconds.

The runners with the five fastest qualifiers from trials on Friday and Saturday advanced to the final.

The other qualifiers from Friday were Mr de Capi (17.06) and BH Inxs (17.08). The other qualifiers from Saturday’s trials were Hes Tempting GI (17.20) and Dealalicious (17.27).
