Lovethatcause, My Boy Lollipop give Anderson formidable pair in Tuesday feature
David Anderson leads all trainers in stable earnings into the final week of the Fonner Park meet and he will attempt to maintain his rank with a pair of top contenders in the featured seventh race Tuesday.
Anderson sends out probable favorite Lovethatcause and possible second choice My Boy Lollipop in the optional $10,000 claiming sprint, which carries non-winners-of-four allowance conditions. The race, for 3-year-olds and up, will be run at six furlongs.
Kelli Martinez, who leads all trainers in wins at the meet, will counter with I’m River. The horse is part of a field of eight that also includes Rock City Roadhog, the winner of last year’s $75,000 Bosselman Pump and Pantry/Gus Fonner Stakes.

Anderson trainees have won 27 of 138 starts at Fonner since the meet opened Feb. 21 and have stable earnings of $178,436. The meet was to end in April, but with many tracks closed because of the coronavirus pandemic it was extended to Wednesday.
“I feel very, very blessed we got to run the extra 11 days,” Anderson said. “It gave us an opportunity to go over there and try to earn a paycheck. A lot of people in different jurisdictions are sitting there unable to race. That would be incredibly difficult, I would think.”
Lovethatcause is looking for his third straight win. He started his streak in a conditioned allowance April 14, then came back and won at this level April 27. The victories came by a combined margin of 13 1/2 lengths. He will break from post 2 under the meet’s second-leading rider Jake Olesiak.
“He’ll be forwardly placed,” Anderson said. “And I’m not saying he’s going to be in front, but he’ll be very close to the front.”
My Boy Lollipop was a $10,000 claim last out off a win in a non-winners-of-two sprint April 30 at Oaklawn Park. There was a six-way shake for the 3-year-old, said Anderson.
My Boy Lollipop was meant for a non-winners-of-three race over six and a half furlongs, but it did not fill, said Anderson.
“He’s running against older, tougher competition,” he said. “We’ll see what he’s made of. He’s training well.”

My Boy Lollipop is a son of Will Take Charge and he will be making his two turn debut Tuesday. He will break from the rail under Scott Bethke.
“I’m not a big fan of the one-hole,” Anderson said.
Lovethatcause and My Boy Lollipop both race for Rodney Paden.
I’m River can make an impact with a repeat of his win in a conditioned allowance last September at Prairie Meadows. He earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 84. Armando Martinez, who leads the rider standings at Fonner, has the mount from post 4.
