Louisiana yearling sale catalog now online

The catalog for the Equine Sales Co. of Louisiana consignor-select yearling sale is now available online, featuring 224 horses on offer.

The auction will take place Wednesday, Sept. 7, in Opelousas, La.

This year’s catalog is 19 percent larger than last year’s, which featured 188 entries. It is the first unified yearling sale held in partnership with the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, which formerly held a separate sale.

"The results of the agreement with the LTBA are evident in this catalog," said Foster Bridewell, sales director for Equine Sales Co. "Not only do we have significantly more yearlings compared to last year, but we have also seen an increase in the quality of consignments. We have nearly 40 different consignors, including some who are making their first appearance at this sale."

Graduates of the sale will be eligible for the 2018 Equine Sales Derby and Equine Sales Oaks at Evangeline Downs, each for a purse of $75,000.

First-year stallions represented in the catalog include Alternation, Big Band Sound, Bind, Flashpoint, Graydar, Jimmy Creed, Keep Up, New Year’s Day, O’Prado Again, Overanalyze, Oxbow, Power Broker, and Take Charge Indy.
