Louisiana Downs track report

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Lonnie Meche, the 1997 riding champ here with 116 wins, picked up his first win of the young meet last Saturday, riding Comanche Queen to a front-running victory in the final race of the day. Meche, who rode at the Churchill Downs meet, will now be based here, according to agent Richie Price. Meche is the twin brother of jockey Donnie Meche, who is currently serving a lengthy suspension.

Price will also be representing Tim Doocy, whose longtime agent Jack Moody died last week from an apparent heart attack. Both riders are expected to ride for the powerful Steve Asmussen barn. His horses arrived en masse this week following the conclusion of the Lone Star Park meet Sunday.

- The eighth race on June 29 has proven to be an extremely productive one, already producing three next-out winners. The $20,000 claiming race for fillies and mares at 7 1/2 furlongs was won by Tricky Details, who returned last Friday to win at the same level for trainer Stanley Roberts. She paid $6.80.

High Princess ($3.40), the third-place finisher of the key race, also had her picture taken Friday when she made short work of statebred company. Idealist ($5.40), who finished sixth June 29, easily defeated $15,000 company Saturday.
