Louisiana Downs: Seven trials for Harrah's Futurity

For those who like playing first-time starters, there will be an abundance of them running on Saturday at Louisiana Downs. The track will put on seven trials for one of its richest Quarter Horse races of the meet, the Harrah’s Futurity on March 18.

Last year, the finale was worth $249,379.

Each of Saturday’s trials drew nine horses, and none of the entrants has ever raced. A handful of horsemen will have multiple starters in the Harrah’s series, the most active trainers on the card being Jorge Berrera, Javier Contreras, Juan Garza, and Kenneth Roberts. Each trial will be run at 300 yards, with a purse of $5,000.
