Loud N Proud ends layoff with Fall Sales triumph

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Loud N Proud ($5.80), winner of his only prior start at Prairie Meadows on June 29, showed the layoff and new surroundings were no bother as the 2-year-old gelded son of Margie’s Wildcat took Saturday’s $83,009 ATBA Fall Sales Futurity (colt-and-gelding division) at Turf Paradise.
Owned by Marvin Fleming, J. Lloyd Yother, William Gessman, and Kevin Eikleberry and trained by Eikleberry, Loud N Proud got bumped at the start under Ry Eikleberry in the 6-furlong main-track restricted stakes. As the 9-5 second choice he was still able to go right out to contest the pace, dueled with Thirty Seconds Out, got the better of that foe into the lane and opening up a clear lead, then holding on to prevail by a head.
Road Romeo, the even-money favorite despite being a maiden (ran third and second in his only two starts), stalked the pace and rallied well to be second, well clear of another maiden, Me, who was third in the field of eight.
Loud N Proud ran the distance in 1:11.35. The winner’s share of $52,227 gives him earnings of $71,127 from two wins in as many starts.
Senoradiablo wins filly division
On paper Senoradiablo dominated the $66,900 filly division of the ATBA Fall Sales Futurity. Well, it wasn’t exactly domination, but she got the job done.
Senoradiablo ($3.20), the heavy 3-5 favorite off a 9 1/2-length romp here Oct. 15, broke slowly to be toward the back in the early going under Denny Velazquez, came with a quick run going to the far turn to reach contention, engaged then-leader Let Me Fly into the lane and edged past that rival to win by a neck. Let Me Fly stalked, made the lead turning for home and battled back to be second, well clear of Tiz Wild Wind, third in the field of 11.
Owned by Tim Bankers and trained by Manuel Ortiz, Senoradiablo, a daughter of Flat Out, ran the 6 furlongs in 1:11.30. The winner’s share of $30,222 gives her earnings of $62,633 from three wins in six starts.
