Loud Mouth claimed, may start in California Cup Sprint

ARCADIA, Calif. - The two-time stakes winner Loud Mouth was claimed for $80,000 at Santa Anita on Friday and could start in the $150,000 California Cup Sprint on Jan. 15, new trainer John Sadler said.
On Friday, Loud Mouth finished fifth, beaten 13 lengths, in an optional claimer at six furlongs, fading through the stretch for Thomsen Racing and trainer Steve Knapp. Loud Mouth was claimed by Hronis Racing.
A 6-year-old horse by Boisterous, Loud Mouth has won two stakes for statebreds in the last 14 months – the Cary Grant Stakes at seven furlongs at Del Mar in November 2020 and a first via disqualification in the E.B. Johnston Stakes at a mile at Los Alamitos in September.

Loud Mouth was beaten a half-length in the Johnston by Peaceful Transfer, who was disqualified for a bumping incident in the stretch.
Loud Mouth has won 8 of 32 starts and has earned $376,942.
The California Cup Sprint is one of five six-figure stakes for statebreds on the Jan. 15 program.
