Lou Lou Larue eyes streak

Bill Hodtwalker|May 20, 2010

Lou Lou Larue continues her streak of stakes starts when she heads a field of five 3-year-old fillies going six furlongs in Saturday's $15,000 Princess Stakes at Lincoln Race Course.

Lou Lou Larue comes into the race off a widening three-length win in the Fonner Park Special Stakes on May 8, her first win in three starts this year. A filly by Blumin Affair, Lou Lou Larue has started only in stakes company, going perfect as a 2-year-old with wins in the State Fair Futurity and Capitol City Futurity, both over this track and against males.

She opened this year with a second to Rubys Big Band in the Pepsi Stakes at Fonner on March 27 and then was fourth against males in the Baxter Stakes on April 17. She finally broke through in the Fonner Park Special for trainer Chuck Turco in her last start, dueling throughout with Spice Swirl before moving off to the daylight victory.

Turco also will send out Toffee, a seven-length maiden winner here last Saturday, as part an uncoupled entry.

The main threat to Lou Lou Larue will be Red Headed Woman, who went 3 for 3 at Fonner Park after being shipped from Oaklawn Park. Red Headed Woman won her maiden by 11 lengths on April 11 in her Nebraska debut and then scored by daylight in an entry-level allowance the following weekend, both races coming at one mile. Her last start was a win over second-level allowance company going six furlongs on May 7 when she moved to the lead at the quarter pole and held on to score by a neck for trainer Mark Lemburg.

The two fillies sport nearly identical Beyer Speed Figures and should be evenly matched on the track. Damon Leeds will ride Lou Lou Larue, while Jordan Olesiak has the mount on Red Headed Woman.
