Los Alamitos: One Dashing Eagle dominates Golden State Million

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – One Dashing Eagle became the first Quarter Horse to win three seven-figure races in the same year with an easy win in Sunday’s $1,118,000 Golden State Million Futurity at Los Alamitos.

Earlier this year, One Dashing Eagle won the Ed Burke Million Futurity at Los Alamitos and the All American Futurity at Ruidoso Downs.

In Sunday’s race over 400 yards, One Dashing Eagle ($2.40) was in control from the start and won without significant urging from jockey Ramon Sanchez, finishing 2 1/4 lengths in front of 47-1 Seperate Interest. One Dashing Eagle was timed in a quick 19.24 seconds.

The Golden State Million was One Dashing Eagle’s final start of 2012.

He finishes the year with six wins in seven starts and earnings of $2,079,065. One Dashing Eagle is not eligible to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity in December because of a missed nomination payment earlier this year.

Co-owner Jorge Carmona said that One Dashing Eagle will given a rest and then will be campaigned at Ruidoso Downs and in New Mexico in 2013. By One Famous Eagle, One Dashing Eagle is co-owned by brother Gustavo and Jose de la Torre. Jose de la Torre trains One Dashing Eagle.
