The $2 pick six at Los Alamitos on Saturday begins with a carryover of $74,767 from last weekend, and expectations are that the total pool will exceed $250,000. The 10-race program begins at 6 p.m. Pacific, with the pick six encompassing the final six races – two allowance races at 1,000 yards and four races for Quarter Horses on the straightaway. The program ends with the $20,000 Queen for Cash Handicap for 3-year-old fillies at 330 yards. The Los Alamitos pick six does not have a Rainbow or single ticket provision, and pays a consolation to tickets with five winners. None of the pick six races seem to have a key selection, which will require clever ticket structure for bettors. The first race of the pick six is run at 1,000 yards for horses who not won at the distance. In a field of eight Thoroughbreds, One Flew South will be favored after finishing second in two 1,000-yard races in December and February. One Flew South drew the outside post and will face a challenge from Excessive Cat, who has won two conditional $6,250 claimers at Golden Gate Fields this year. :: Bet the races on DRF Bets! The sixth race is a conditional $6,250 claimer for fillies and mares at 1,000 yards. Tiz a Master, a winner at 1,000 yards last April, will have her first start since October against five rivals, including Measureofdevotion, the winner of a conditional $5,000 claimer at 4 1/2 furlongs at Los Alamitos on Jan. 22. In the seventh race, a maiden race at 300 yards, Code Named Lethal, El Mysterious Fire, and J Perfect Deal are capable of wins after finishing second or third in recent maiden races. Code Named Lethal was beaten a nose in a 300-yard maiden race in December and will be favored for trainer Heath Taylor. The eighth race, an allowance race for non-winners of two at 330 yards, drew a field of six, but lacks a standout. Charley Brown, a maiden race winner in January, can be a factor if he avoids the trouble that led to a seventh-place finish in a time trial on Feb. 5. :: Get Daily Racing Form Past Performances – the exclusive home of Beyer Speed Figures Hes Valiant Energy, the 9-1 winner of a maiden race in his seventh start on Feb. 4, has appealing form if he can break well and avoid the trouble that plagued the gelding’s 2-year-old season last year. Zackery Bono may go favored in the ninth race for $10,000 maiden claimers at 300 yards despite a layoff of more than 21 months. Zackery Bono is winless in four starts at Los Alamitos, but has worked quickly for his return. Interest Fly, unraced since May, returns for trainer Jose Flores and starts from the outside post. Interest Fly needs a clean break to play any meaningful role. Flores has the likely favorite in the Queen for Cash Handicap with Feldzpar, the winner of consecutive allowance races in December and January. Kiss a Lou Blue, a minor stakes winner in Idaho last June, is a danger from an inside post in her Los Alamitos debut for trainer Monty Arrossa. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
