Los Alamitos fines trainer $15,000

Quarter Horse trainer Jose de la Torre has been fined $15,000 by Los Alamitos stewards after six of his horses who ran earlier this year tested positive for excessive amounts of the bronchial dilator clenbuterol.

The excesses occurred between Feb. 16 and March 8. Four of the de la Torre horses were winners - LDS Heza Streaker on Feb. 16, Bonos Key on Feb. 23, Preppy Pilot on March 2, and Call Me a Bono on March 8. The other two finished second - Bonos Wicked Wench on March 1 and Ima Strawfly on March 6.

The purses in all six races were ordered redistributed.

Clenbuterol is used to aid horses with breathing problems.
