Los Alamitos Derby draws a fifth entrant, is carded for Sunday

The Grade 3 Los Alamitos Derby on Sunday will have a field of five, according to racing secretary Bob Moreno.
The $150,000 race at 1 1/8 miles was scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed a day when the race failed to draw sufficient entries on Wednesday. The race added a fifth runner when entries were taken on Thursday.
The expected field includes Back Ring Luck, Classier, Defunded, Ingest, and It’s My House.
Classier and Defunded were second and third in the Grade 3 Affirmed Stakes for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles on June 13 in a field of five. Race winner The Chosen Vron is expected to have his next start in the $175,000 Real Good Deal Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds at seven furlongs at Del Mar on July 30.
It’s My House won the minor Turf Paradise Derby in Arizona in March, but was pulled up in the $300,000 Texas Derby at Lone Star Park on May 31. It’s My House has since had two workouts at Santa Anita for trainer Bob Hess Jr.
The Los Alamitos Derby will be the top race on a nine-race program. The two-week Los Alamitos summer meeting concludes on Monday. The Del Mar summer meeting begins on July 16.
