Longshots on parade at Hawthorne

The two longest shots in the five-horse field finished one-two in the $100,000 Lady Hallie Handicap Saturday at Hawthorne in Stickney, Ill. The 9-1 Curious Conundrum won the 1 1/16-mile race for fillies and mares by 3 3/4 lengths over 18-1 Barney's Mistress. Lakenheath finished third, with 2-5 favorite Ifyouprefersilver fourth.

Curious Conundrum, ridden by Eddie Razo Jr., returned $20.60 to win. As a result of heavy show betting on Ifyouprefersilver, the top three finishers returned huge prices to show: $57.40, $71.20, and $47.80.
