Longchamp: Giofra heads one-two finish for stable in Prix d'Harcourt

The 4-year-old filly Giofra got the better of her stablemate Vadamar, winning the Group 2 Prix d’Harcourt on Sunday at Longchamp in France by three lengths, and giving trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre a sweep of the top two placings.

Giofra, a Dansili filly whose 2011 campaign was limited to three starts because of problems with a foreleg, tracked the pace from third under Maxime Guyon, took the lead about 1 ½ furlongs from the finish, and ran on strongly, winning comfortably while running 1 ¼ miles over good going in 2:01.35. Vadamar confirmed the sense he is better over longer distances, rallying from last to gain the place while no match for the quicker filly.

The winner was bred and is owned by Haras de la Perelle.
