Longacres Mile tops 16-race stakes schedule at Emerald Downs
Emerald Downs will run the Grade 3 Longacres Mile on Sept. 13 as the highlight of a 16-race stakes schedule this summer, the track announced in a press release on Saturday. Emerald Downs will run for 44 days, from June 22 through Oct. 4.

Initially, at least, the races will be conducted without fans because of the coronavirus pandemic. Emerald had been scheduled to begin juts meet on April 18.
The purse for the Longacres Mile has been reduced from $200,000 last year to $100,000. The Longacres Mile, for 3-year-olds and up, will share a card with the $40,000 Emerald Distaff at 1 1/16 miles for fillies and mares.
The only other stakes on the schedule with a purse of more than $40,000 is the $60,000 Gottstein Futurity for 2-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles. The Gottstein will be run on closing day, Oct. 4, along with the Muckleshoot Tribal Classic and the Washington Cup Filly and Mare Stakes.
