Longacres Mile highlights Emerald Downs stakes schedule

Emerald Downs will run 27 stakes worth a total of more than $1.5 million during its 2019 racing season, which begins April 20 and runs for 67 dates through Sept. 22.
The biggest day of the meet is Aug. 11, when the Grade 3, $200,000 Longacres Mile for 3-year-olds and up will be run for the 84th time and on its earliest date ever. Three other stakes will be run that day, each worth $50,000: the Emerald Distaff for fillies and mares, the Muckleshoot Derby for 3-year-olds, and the Washington Oaks for 3-year-old fillies.
The first four-stakes day of the meet will be held July 21, featuring the $50,000 Mt. Rainer Stakes as a final tune-up for the Longacres Mile. The other stakes that day, each worth $50,000, are the Boeing Stakes for fillies and mares, the King County Express for 2-year-old colts and geldings, and the Angie C Stakes for 2-year-old fillies.
The Washington Cup for Washington-breds, worth an aggregate $300,000, will be spread over three days, with two stakes on Sept. 1, 8, and 15.
The Gottstein Futurity is the lone route stakes of the meet for 2-year-olds and is scheduled for closing day, Sept. 22. The race offers $100,000 in total purse money, including $50,000 to eligible Northwest Racing Series horses.
