Lone Star, Remington lose races due to inclement weather
Lone Star Park near Dallas was forced to cancel its final three races Saturday night due to inclement weather, while its sister track, Remington Park in Oklahoma City, lost 10 of its races, also due to heavy rains. Both tracks are scheduled to resume racing Sunday.
Lone Star, which also experienced lightning, lost its seventh, eighth, and ninth races. It was the fourth partial-card cancelation this meet, according to track spokeswoman Diantha Brazzell. There was to be no training Sunday morning, according to racing officials at Lone Star.
Remington officials noted the record for monthly rainfall in Oklahoma City was surpassed Saturday night. Heavy rains hit just before the second race, according to a release from the track, and following it, the balance of the card had to be canceled.
Remington is conducting a meet for Quarter Horses, while Lone Star is racing Thoroughbreds. Both tracks are owned by Global Gaming.
Remington will move the 10 races lost to an additional card May 31.
