Lone Star Park track report

Lone Star Park will remain open as a training center following the close of its Quarter Horse meet on Sunday. The development means new stabling options for trainers based in north Texas, as well as those displaced by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

"In light of the disrupted schedule in Louisiana, horsemen all over are looking for places to go," said Jeff Greco, vice president and general manager of Lone Star.

Based on early feedback from owners and trainers, Greco said, more than 400 horses could stable at Lone Star during its down time. The track will open its Thoroughbred meet in April.

The cost to stable at Lone Star as a training center is $4 per stall per day. The track will be open for training six days a week. Published works will be available on a schedule now being determined by Lone Star.

* There are 180 horses cataloged to the Eclipse winter mixed sale featuring Quarter Horses on Dec. 3. It will be held on the backstretch at Lone Star.
